Rules and Regulations
GENERAL
- Exhibits MUST be grown or made by the exhibitor within the past year.
- No person may have more than one entry per class. Additional entries will be marked “For Display Only” and no refund of entry fees will be made.
- STUDENTS must decide whether to enter in the student or open sections, where the same class exists.
ENTRY FORMS
- Entries must be made on the official entry form, available within this booklet or at crestonvalleyfallfair.ca. Only one exhibitor per entry form.
ENTRY SUBMISSIONS
- Completed entry forms may be mailed to Box 95, Creston, BC V0B 1G0, postmarked on or before Monday, August 26, or dropped off at the Creston Visitor Centre before 4pm on Friday, August 30.
- LIVESTOCK entries must be submitted by August 15 to ensure adequate pens and cages.
ENTRY FEES
- Initial Entry – $2.00
- Subsequent Entries – $0.50 each
- Scarecrow Contest – $5.00
- Giant Pumpkin Contest – $5.00
EXHIBIT DROP OFF
- Exhibitors with 20 or more entries may pick up their entry tags at the Fairgrounds between 7 and 9pm on Wednesday, September 4.
- Exhibits MUST be brought to the Fairgrounds between 6 and 8pm on Thursday, September 5 and must be in place by 8pm. Late exhibits will be marked “For Display Only” and will not be judged. Exhibitors must vacate the premises by 8:30pm on Thursday.
- LIVESTOCK – Small livestock must be at the Fairgrounds on Thursday, September 5 between 6 and 8pm. Large livestock must be in place by Friday, September 6, no later than 9am. Any animal not at the Fairgrounds by the deadline will be disqualified.
JUDGING AND AWARDS
- In the absence of competition in any one class, judges will give awards as they deem worthy. A single entry in any one class will not necessarily receive a ribbon.
- Points are awarded as follows:
- 1st Prize – 5 points
- 2nd Prize – 3 points
- 3rd Prize – 2 points
- Points will be used to determine the Aggregate winners in all categories as noted on page 1 of the booklet. Trophies and certificates to be awarded and listed in each section in the booklet.
- Prize money is awarded in conjunction with points. Prize money must be picked up after the awards ceremony on Saturday, September 7 between 4 and 6pm. Unclaimed prize money will be donated to the Creston Valley Fall Fair Association.
- AWARD PRESENTATIONS: 3pm, Saturday, September 7.
- All protests must be made in writing and handed to the Section Convenor (as noted in the booklet) by 7:00pm, Friday, September 6. The judge’s decision will be final.
EXHIBIT PICK UP
- General exhibits must be picked up between 4 and 6pm on Saturday, September 7.
- All livestock must be removed from the Fairgrounds between 5 and 6pm, Saturday, September 7.
- The Fair Association will not be responsible for items after 6pm.
LIABILITY
- The Creston Valley Fall Fair Association will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or accident whatsoever in connection with exhibits or property.
How to Enter
- Browse the Sections in the Fall Fair booklet (paper copies or online) and determine your entries.
- Get the Entry Form (stapled in the middle of the physical booklet, or downloadable here). Complete your exhibitor contact information on the top of the form. Please print clearly!
- List your entries. Please indicate Section (e.g. A Fruit, B Vegetables, C Home Preserving), Division and Classes of each entry. If you are entering more than 10, please use an additional entry form (staple the pages together).
- Calculate your entry fees. $2.00 for first entry and .50 for each additional entry. Please enter the total amount owing in the grayed-in box titled “Total Submitted.”
- If you are mailing your entry, please enclose the entry form and cheque or money order addressed to Creston Valley Fall Fair Association, PO Box 95, Creston BC V0B 1G0. Please mail on or before Monday, August 26, 2024.
- If you are dropping off your entry form in person, please put the form and cash, cheque or money order in a sealed envelope, and drop off the the Creston Valley Visitor Centre by Friday, August 30, 2024.
